WaterBrick Review Data
About the Water Brick
Made in America, the Water Brick is a sturdy, stackable water storage container that contains no BPA. Its slim profile, comfortable handle, and 3.5 gallon capacity makes it one of our favorites to store water long-term. By the time you finish this water brick review, I’m betting you’ll want one too.
Durable Enough to Drop From the Sky
The water brick is arguably one of the most durable entries in the category of stackable water storage containers. Don’t believe me? Just check out this video of them being air-dropped and suffering no damage.
Easy to Store – Almost Anywhere
Measuring in at 18.6 x 18.7 x 25.5 inches, the water brick can be placed almost anywhere for storage. The interlocking design means that they will not slip and slide off of one another, and – together with the durability – allows you to stack them up to four feet in height.
Easy to Carry – Detachable Handle Included
While the Water Brick is easy to manage without a handle, one is included. The sturdy hasp and comfortable handle make it very easy to carry the Water Brick without hurting your hand. No gloves needed for this one! I wear mine anyway though.
A Great Value
While the Water Brick is slightly more expensive than other containers, when measured by the dollars it costs to store a gallon of water, its features make it a huge value in our book.
Where Does the Water Brick Fit Into Your Preparedness Plan?
Great for Your 72-Hour Kit
One of these babies is more than enough for a single person’s 3-day supply of water, according to Ready.gov standards. However, if you’ve read and agree with my long-term water storage recommendation, you’ll want to get 2 for each person in your household’s 72-hour kit – and 1 for each pet to have a true 3-day supply of water on hand at all times.
When full, each Water Brick weighs in at 28 pounds. Compare that to alternative containers that are typically 5 gallons and weigh in at approximately 40 pounds. This makes them easier to grab and go – in case you need to leave the house quickly.
They are a dream to pour from.
Great as a Part of Your Long-Term Water Storage
While convenient for your 72-hour kit, the fact that you can stack these 3.5 gallon Water Bricks up to 4 feet high means that they’re also great for your long-term water storage too. You don’t even have to take the handles off!
In fact, if you put a spigot on one in the top layer, you can actually use the water from it in-place. You will need to tip the back up once it’s less than half-full, but these containers are so easy to handle that’s no big deal.
Closing Thoughts on the Water Brick
My personal strategy is to use SmartWater Sport bottles as my 72-hour water storage. Then, I add enough 3.5 gallon Water Bricks to get me to two weeks.
For the rest, I use larger, more economical water storage containers. However, the space-constrained may prefer the Water Brick for longer-term plans simply because of the excellent size.
As a method to ensure proper rotation, we take our Water Bricks with us when we go camping. This gives us a very convenient way to carry an initial supply of water, and – because you can stack them – they don’t move around if where you’re going happens to require a boat to get there.
